Gilion\u00a0at Rose City Reader is hosting the European Reading Challenge<\/a> again for 2018.\u00a0 The “gist” of the challenge, according to Gilion,<\/p>\n

is to read books by European authors or books set in European countries (no matter where the author comes from). The books can be anything \u2013 novels, short stories, memoirs, travel guides, cookbooks, biography, poetry, or any other genre. You can participate at different levels, but each book must be by a different author and set in a different country<\/strong> \u2013 it’s supposed to be a tour.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There are several levels for the challenge, and I’m aiming to once again read five books to reach the Five Star (Deluxe Entourage) Level. Here’s my planned list for the challenge:<\/p>\n

  1. France:<\/strong> Twenty Years After<\/em> by Alexandre Dumas<\/li>\n
  2. United Kingdom<\/strong>: Ivanhoe<\/em> by Sir Walter Scott<\/li>\n
  3. Italy:<\/strong> From Sand and Ash<\/em> by Amy Harmon<\/li>\n
  4. Russia<\/strong>: Crime and Punishment<\/em> by Fyodor Dostoevsky<\/li>\n
  5. Spain<\/strong>: The Shadows of the Wind<\/em> by\u00a0Carlos Ruiz\u00a0Zaf\u00f3n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
