They&#8217;ve suggested <a href=\"http:\/\/www.poets.org\/page.php\/prmID\/94\">thirty ways to celebrate<\/a>, one for each day of the month. Today&#8217;s suggestion is to read a book of poetry. Here are some great places to start:<\/p>\n<h2>Anthologies:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a style=\"font-style: italic;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/1573226467\/nickslists-20\">Committed to Memory: 100 Best Poems to Memorize<\/a> edited by John Hollander &#8211; One of the greatest selections of poetry ever. Divided into Sonnets, Songs, Counsels, Tales, and Meditations.<\/li>\n<li><a style=\"font-style: italic;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0142003441\/nickslists-20\">Good Poems<\/a> edited by Garrison Keillor &#8211; A diverse collection of almost 300 poems read by Keillor on &#8220;The Writer&#8217;s Almanac.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><a style=\"font-style: italic;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0449911861\/nickslists-20\">The Premiere Book of Major Poets<\/a> edited by Anita Dore &#8211; Essential collection of poems &#8220;from the Middle Ages to the Modern day.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><a style=\"font-style: italic;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/1417993316\/nickslists-20\">Joyce Kilmer&#8217;s Anthology of Catholic Poets<\/a> &#8211; An older collection, but worth reading.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Specific Authors:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a style=\"font-style: italic;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0316184136\/nickslists-20\">The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson<\/a> &#8211; Over 1700 poems. Read a poem a day for four and a half years, then start over again.<\/li>\n<li><a style=\"font-style: italic;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/1416523715\/nickslists-20\">Leaves of Grass<\/a> by Walt Whitman &#8211; Includes &#8220;Song of Myself,&#8221; &#8220;I Hear American Singing,&#8221; &#8220;O Captain!
